Most of us can agree that this photo of Charles Barkley is hilarious. But what’s even funnier (if you’re a fan of the NBA star) is that Barkley looks like a healthy 55 year old man compared to the 300 pound-plus bruiser he was at the age of 52. You’d think a man with his physique would want to make the most of it, but apparently not. Barkley has apparently seen his weight balloon to over 300 pounds in recent years, and while he’s participated in a few contests and weight loss programs, he hasn’t been able to keep it off.
Charles Barkley is an American retired professional basketball player, a certified fitness guru and a television personality. He’s also the proud owner of a gigantic physique that makes him a bonafide gym rat. But the thing is, Charles’ physique is not the result of a strict regimen of diet and exercise. Instead, he’s a testament to the power of good genes and the power of a long and fulfilling life.

Shaquille O’Neal has a reputation for being a joker. After all, the Hall of Fame basketball player turned TV commentator attempted to sell a phony Bigfoot film once. Shaq ventured into spooky area once again during a recent televised appearance. Of course, he was able to use Charles Barkley, his favorite TV sparring partner, in the process.
During the NBA season, Barkley and O’Neal light up the Inside the NBA set with their never-ending give-and-take. Their sporting careers crossed paths for a few years, although they didn’t cross paths very frequently. There are worse sitcom concepts than a Shaq-Barkley show if a producer wants a comedic success. The two have a long history together.
On TNT, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley have been at odds for ten seasons.
Charles Barkley took a seat on the set of TNT’s legendary Inside the NBA shortly after his retirement in 2000. The program airs on TNT’s broadcast evenings, which are usually Tuesday and Thursday, with additional postseason coverage through the conference finals. Shaquille O’Neal followed in his footsteps. In 2011, he retired and took a position with TNT.
As a result, a constantly interesting friendship between two frenemies developed. Barkley is frequently chastised by O’Neal for never having won an NBA title. Barkley retaliates by slamming O’Neal’s defense. This is how it goes.
Shaq and Barkley’s moms, according to folklore, set them on the road to friendship. A tossed ball resulted into a brawl during a 1999 game between Barkley’s Houston Rockets and O’Neal’s Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout their boys’ careers, their moms became friends. The mothers were the ones who negotiated a truce between the celebrities.
But it doesn’t rule out the possibility of a fight between the two.
In a UFO debate, O’Neal mentions Charles Barkley.
In May 2023, Jimmy Kimmel questioned Shaquille O’Neal about his views on extraterrestrial visitation during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. It wouldn’t be a good Shaq retort if he didn’t take a crack at Charles Barkley.
“For starters, I believe in UFOs because when I look at Charles Barkley’s physique, I know he’s an extraterrestrial. What’s more, you know what’s crazy? This is a tale I never told you about.”

After that, O’Neal told a more serious tale about a near call.
“I was on a double date with one of my close friends, Chris Flores, in 1997. We were on a double date with the girl he married, Melissa. We’ve just arrived from Madera, California, where we worked at a Hollywood Video.
“Right as we drove through the fairgrounds, I believe I saw a flying saucer come down with all the lights on, whirling, and then taking off. We all glanced at each other as if to say, “I know it’s a UFO.” “I don’t give a damn what anybody says.”

Who would want to say no to O’Neal, given his intimidating stature?
Shaquille O’Neal is a TNT staple, but Barkley has a strategy to get out of it.

Shaquille O’Neal signed a multi-year contract with the Inside the NBA team in August 2023. In addition to an expansion of the successful Shaqtin-a-Fool brand and appearances on CNN and NBA TV, the Turner Sports agreement included appearances on CNN and NBA TV.
Turner Sports did not reveal the duration of Shaq’s contract deal, but it’s fair to assume he won’t be departing anytime soon.
Charles Barkley, on the other hand, has made his decision to leave Inside the NBA. He earned four Emmy Awards for his work as a studio analyst, although he does not want to keep the job forever.
Barkley announced his retirement intentions during a radio appearance in June 2023. Barkley intends to stay with TNT until he is 60 years old.
Before signing the contract, he considered retiring in 2016. After the 2023–23 season, according to Barkley’s stated timetable, he will depart Inside the NBA.
If Shaquille O’Neal is to be believed, Charles Barkley’s return to his home planet is just a matter of time.
